Could we get every American citizen to read and consider the Constitution in 2010?
As a nation we need to revisit what the Constitution says, what the role of our government is, and what our vision for the future should be. The security and prosperity of our Republic depends upon such discussion. In the coming months I'll be posting further ideas and details about how we can flood America with the Constitution in 2010. Here is a to-do list for now:
"Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily granted to it by the people." ~ Ronald Reagan
Our military men and women make incredible sacrifices of time and
life, and put themselves in harm’s way, not just to protect our national
freedom, but to protect the freedom of other nations as well.
Every time I reflect on that, I’m amazed at how strong,
brave and honorable our military people are – and I always wish I could be of
more help to them.
I recently came across Soldiers’ Angels, an organization
that can pair you with a soldier to encourage personally. They verify your identity and ask for a
significant commitment (of letters and care packages to be sent) – then give
you the address of an armed services member in need of encouragement.
I just “adopted” a Marine who is serving in Iraq and sent
off a box of goodies to him. It’s a very
small way of saying “thank you” to people who deserve so much more. Check it out at: www.soldiersangels.org.
The post office prints special boxes for military shipping with a discount
priority flat rate (10.95).Letters require a normal first-class
stamp.
As an American, the flag and what it represents is just as much a part of you as it is a part of those brave souls who have carried it through battles across the world. If you have an extra seven minutes online today, the following video will refresh your patriotism and renew your American spirit. It presents in detail the story behind our national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.
